When I found The Little Horse Box, the first thing that drew me to this amazingly innovative idea was how charming and charismatic it was. Then what kept me looking and interested was seeing the passion that the owner, Liddy Goodrum puts into this little box of goodness.
Perfect for outdoor weddings and events (and I would personally love to just hire Liddy as a live-in horse box bartender), The Little Horse Box is so versatile and can be decked out for all types of celebrations, and the drink choices are NEVER ENDING. Take a little walk through our chat with Liddy:
So tell me a bit about your background and about the motivation behind The Little Horse Box?
(Liddy: back left, Liddy’s Mother: back right, Lottie: front left, Lilac: front right)
I am a working mother of three to Freddy, Lilac, and Johnny, and wife to Jason. I’ve always dreamed of owning my own business and it was my husband who encouraged me to take the leap. I was thinking about the things I love doing, such as meeting new people, entertaining friends and family, and enjoying the odd glass of Prosecco (or two!), when I had a eureka moment: why not convert an old horse box into a luxury mobile wedding and event bar, helping couples-to-be achieve their dream wedding day?
What is your favourite beverage or cocktail that you provide?
This is a hard question, as I love them all, but being a big lover of Prosecco, it would have to be our Raspberry Limoncello Prosecco. (This is made by mixing Prosecco, Limoncello, frozen raspberries and some sprigs of mint.) It’s a really refreshing, summery drink too. I like simple drinks, nothing over-complicated; just letting the wines, spirits, and mixers do their stuff.
What is your favourite part of the job?
It would have to be talking to the couples and helping them plan their day. I also enjoy the creative side from styling the horse box, to looking into unique and quirky ways to serve our drinks. I also love keeping up with the latest wedding trends on Pinterest and Instagram, as well as working with other great wedding suppliers. But, ultimately, it is the privilege of being part of someone’s special day that makes it all worthwhile.
Do you provide packages? If so, can you give me a little bit of an idea of what these cover and for how many people?
We offer four set packages depending on what the couples’ requirements are, ranging from £6.50 to £20 per head. However, it is our bespoke package that is our most popular option. This enables couples to create their own unique drinks package, whether filling the horse box with their favourite tipples, or coming up with his ‘n’ hers signature cocktails! They then have the choice of operating a cash or free bar, dry bar hire (on an individual quotation basis), or couples may wish to put some money behind the bar.
And lastly, is it possible to work collaboratively if clients want the horse box decked out to match the overall theme of the day?
Of course! As we offer a personalised service, we can tailor our horse box to suit every couple’s own individual requirements. There’s the option for couples and planners to dress the horse box with flowers or signage to complement their chosen colour scheme or wedding theme. What’s more, our colour-changing LED lighting can also be set in a specific colour at the client’s request!
